India won the toss and opted to field against Japan in their opening match of the Asian Games, which happens to be the quarterfinal, in Nisshin.

Harmanpreet Kaur's side would be hoping to dominate the hosts, who are clearly the underdogs in the fixture that will set up a semifinal meeting with Bangladesh. Japan are led by Mai Yanagida.

Sri Lanka crushed Malaysia by 86 runs earlier to set up their semifinal with Pakistan, who edged Thailand in another quarterfinal.

India are the defending champions, and would hope to add a second continental title, having recently clinched the Asia Cup.
